The Bambanani Bowl or Ubuntu Bowl is the signature product of Zizamele Ceramics. Their signature Ubuntu Bowls are iconic, and feature a circle of women holding hands around the rim of the wheel thrown pottery bowl in a spirit of unity. They wear their traditional headscarves and have their babies tied to their backs. Zizamele Ceramics has a range of functional items such as salad bowls, creamers, sugar bowls and mugs which are painted in their characteristic vibrant colours and patterns. The creators of these products are local (previously unemployed) women who were trained by former ceramics lecturer Toni Burton, who started Zizamele Ceramics in 2008.
