Sankore Neckpiece

This piece named after the Sankore Mosque is from the Love Letters to Vernacular Architecture series. It is symbolic as a testament to the enduring spirit of education and culture in Sub-Saharan Africa. Built in the 12th century by Berbers in Timbuktu, Mali, it holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously-operating institution of higher education in the region. Hand beaded using glass seed beads this beautiful piece to give as a gift.
